Argentina Wine Dinner

For one night only, we will enjoy a variety of grapes and wines that Argentina has to offer with a mouthwatering Autumn menu.

Argentina is placed at the forefront of the wine industry thanks to its solid foundations. The production of wines in the Country goes back to the 16th century, when the first specimens of Vitis vinifera were brought to America by Spanish colonisers. Catholic priests who cultivated vineyards near their monasteries were important in their propagation, thus ensuring the production of wine to celebrate Holy Mass. During the 19th century, European immigrants introduced new cultivation techniques and other varieties of grapes which found an ideal habitat to grow in the Andes and the Río Colorado Valley. In the 20th century the wine industry underwent important changes that would mark its future course: it went from mass production for domestic consumption, to higher quality, lower volume production.

Located in wide valleys and on sloping plains, the wine regions form a strip at the foot of the Andes mountain range that extends from north to south, latitudes 23 ° to 45.5°. In recent years, restless producers have pushed the wine frontier to the West, into the heights, and to the South and East, looking for the cooler temperatures of the southern latitudes or the influence of the ocean.

From the high altitude vineyards in the North, down through the aridity of Cuyo and the plains of Patagonia, to the new projects on the edge of the Atlantic, Argentine wines offer an endless range of flavours that reflect the identity of each region.
