Discovering Sauvignon Blanc

The roots of Sauvignon Blanc are thought to lie in the Loire Vallery, France, where the grape was first mentioned in 1534 by writer François Rabelais.

A popular and unmistakable white wine, loved for its green herbal flavors and lively acidity. Sauvignon Blanc grows nearly everywhere and offers a variety of styles ranging from lean to bountiful.

Thanks to different types of climate and winemaking techniques, sauvignon blanc can really surprise you with an array of flavours: green and citrus notes, gooseberry, tropical fruits, spiciness and many more.

Did you know?

May 3rd is International Sauvignon Blanc day.

Sauvignon Blanc likely derived its moniker from the French word “Sauvage,” meaning wild, as the vines are reminiscent of wild grapevines.

Surprisingly, Sauvignon Blanc is a parent of Cabernet Sauvignon! The “green” aromatics in Sauvignon Blanc come from compounds called Methoxypyrazines also found in Cabernet Sauvignon (it runs in the family!)
